Bangalore: A court has issued an ex-parte temporary injunction over the remains of Hindu temples found in a mosque in Karnataka's Mangaluru district. This injunction has been issued so that one party cannot demolish or damage the remains. This order has been issued by the Court of Third Additional Civil Judge and First Class Judicial Magistrate on Friday (22 April 2022). Let us tell you that during the excavation of Jumma Masjid at Mallipet near Ganjimat, Mangaluru, the remains of the temple have been recovered in its premises.

After getting information about this, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had demanded to stop the excavation. After VHP's application, Deputy Commissioner K.V. Rajendra had on Thursday (21 April 2022) ordered an inquiry into the claims of its being a temple and asked the authorities to maintain status quo. While passing the order on the second interim application filed in the original case filed by Dhananjay, the Court observed that, "the defendant, his men, agents, servants, followers or any person claiming through or under him shall have a scheduled property found in the temple." Destruction or damage to such structure is prevented till the next hearing.'

In this case, the court has issued emergency notice to Jumma Masjid on the interim petition. The court will next hear the matter on June 3. On the other hand, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar said that a police force would be deployed at the spot to maintain peace. During the recent removal of a part of the old structure of the mosque for restoration, a wooden carved structure has been recovered and the VHP has claimed that the structure resembles an old temple. After VHP's petition, Deputy Commissioner K.V. Rajendra on Thursday ordered an inquiry into the claims and asked officials to maintain status quo.
