Mumbai: Coronavirus cases have once again started rising in some parts of India and in many countries of the world,  though the death rate has come under control to a great extent,  the WHO's Emergency Committee on Coronavirus said on Wednesday, adding that the Covid pandemic still remains a major health threat and stressed that countries should oppose it. The fight should not be weakened. Many countries have also relaxed public health and social measures, and have drastically reduced coronavirus sample testing. A group of experts from the World Health Organization said the virus was not going to end yet.

Mumbai: Mumbai on Wednesday reported 73 new cases of coronavirus, the highest in a single day since March 17 this year. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) health bulletin has spoken about the fact that there were no fresh deaths due to the coronavirus. The death toll due to corona in Mumbai is unchanged at 19,560. Of the 73 new patients who have also been reported, 68 are without symptoms and 5 others are hospitalized. Since the beginning of this week, the cases of coronavirus have started to increase continuously. On Monday, 23 cases were reported in Mumbai. 

A day earlier, Mumbai had registered 52 cases and zero deaths. The city had reported less than 100 cases per day since March 3 this year. With the rise in daily cases, Mumbai's positivity rate has increased from 0.005 per cent to 0.007 per cent. The health bulletin said that 9,970 COVID-19 samples were tested in the last 24 hours, with a total of 1,67,45,172 sample tests completed in Mumbai so far. The Covid recovery rate in Mumbai is 98 per cent. There are now a total of 331 active cases left in the city. The doubling rate of cases is now 16,538 days, while the overall growth rate of cases between April 6 and April 12 was 0.004 per cent. Notably, out of the total 26,151 beds in the hospital due to coronavirus in Mumbai, only 13 were admitted to patients till Wednesday. The city has long been free from any sealed buildings and containment zones.
