New Delhi: Honda has introduced the Smart Key version of its Activa scooter in India. Dealerships will receive it by the end of January. The two-wheeler has a smart key similar to that used in cars which is paired with a multi-purpose button inside the car to perform various functions. The multi-purpose rotary knob allows passengers to lock/unlock the car as well as open the fuel cap or under-seat storage.

Compared to the standard model, the new Honda Activa offers more safety features. However, there has been no change in its structure, shape and mechanics.

Since 2001, the Activa has been available for purchase in India, and the addition of a new trim will undoubtedly boost sales. The car competes with models like Yamaha Fascino and TVS Jupiter in this segment.

When the smart key is nearby, you can use the multipurpose knob to unlock/start the scooter, open the fuel lid and even access the boot space.

The two wheeler locks itself when the key is not accessible.
When the "Find My Vehicle" button on the key is pressed, the scooter's indicators will light up, making it easy to locate.

H-Smart is a state-of-the-art security system that comes with the scooter. The smart key automatically turns on as soon as it goes out of range of the vehicle.

It is a more affordable version of the Honda Ignition Security System (HISS) used on the company's high-end motorcycles including the CRF 1100L Africa Twin. This security system can be beneficial considering the high rate of vehicle theft in our country.

A stylish front apron with chrome accents, a flat footboard, single-piece seat with a pillion grab rail, and blacked-out mirrors with smart key are all features of the Honda Activa.

The scooter features an analogue instrument cluster, a knob-style switch, an LED headlight and blacked-out alloy wheels. It weighs 105 kg and has a fuel capacity of 5.3 litres.

The 109.5cc, four-stroke engine that produces 7.74 hp of peak output and 8.9 Nm of peak torque powers the Honda Activa with Smart Key. Automatic gearbox is connected to the mill.

The Honda Activa with Smart Key features drum brakes on both the front and rear wheels for added safety. Also, it has been given a combined braking system for better road handling. Telescopic forks at the front and three-step adjustable springs at the back are responsible for the scooter's suspension.

The Honda Activa Smart Key model sells for Rs. 80,537 in India. While the prices of the Standard and Deluxe versions are respectively Rs. 74,536 and Rs. 77,036. (All prices, ex-showroom). Deliveries of the new model will begin by the end of January.
