She is also called Sati because of her self-immolation in the Yagya Kunda. Later she was born as Parvati. Parvati got the name because she was the son of Parvataraja, the king of the mountains. Was a princess. With the reluctance of his father, he married Shiva, a yogi living in the Himalayan region. In a yagna, when Daksha did not invite Sati and Shiva, Goddess Sati reached her father's yagna despite Shiva's refusal, but Daksha said abusive things about Shiva in front of Sati. Sati did not tolerate all this and jumped into the Yagya Kunda and sacrificed her life. On hearing this news, Shiva sent his commander Virabhadra, who cut off Daksha's head. After this, Shiva got angry by holding Sati's body on his head and wandering on the earth. During this period, wherever the body parts or ornaments of Sati fell, Shaktipeeths were later built. Where the organ or ornament that fell, got the name of that Shaktipeeth. This does not mean that many Goddesses was born.
