New Delhi: Former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's murderer AG Perarivalan has been released by the Supreme Court today. The reaction of Congress leaders on this has also started coming to the fore. Congress national spokesperson Randeep Surjewala termed the apex court's decision as unfortunate. Attacking the central government, he also said that Rajiv Gandhi's killer has been left in this government, Modi should tell whether this is nationalism.

Randeep Surjewala said that we are saddened by the decision of the apex court. This decision is unfortunate, because the court released a murderer of Rajiv Gandhi. Surjewala said that the court has given this decision due to the then Governor of Tamil Nadu Banwarilal Purohit and the President not taking the decision. Surjewala further said that today is a sad day for the country. Rajiv Gandhi was not the leader of Congress but the PM of the country.

The court has ordered his release due to good behavior in jail. A bench of Justice L Nageswar has ordered his release using Article 142.
