Dhaka: Former captain Mashrafe Mortaza, who took the Bangladesh cricket team to new heights, has opposed the attack on Hindus in the country in a Facebook post, writing that only the Bangladesh cricket team lost on the field but the entire country lost due to the violence. Bangladesh lost to their lower-ranked team Scotland by 6 runs during the T20 World Cup qualifiers in Oman. Former captain Mashrafe was trying to point out Mortaza's encounter. At the same time, he wrote that the country did not want it red and green.

Skipper Mashrafe Mortaza, who has eliminated the weaker section from Bangladesh, has taken 266 wickets in 215 matches, while he also has a half-century to his name. Murtaza is also a member of the Bangladeshi Parliament. It may be recalled that several people have been killed and several Durga Pandals have also been demolished in the anti-Hindu riots in Bangladesh. The latest incident of attacks on properties of the minority Hindu community recently has come to light from Feni in eastern Bangladesh. Several people including the Hindu community staged demonstrations in different parts of Bangladesh demanding the early arrest of the accused. The protesters staged a dharna for half a day during which Section 144 was violated in Noakhali. Members of various political parties and social organizations participated in the dharna demonstration.

According to media reports, social media has been flooded with condemners of the heinous attack on Hindus, with emphasis on preventing such incidents and maintaining religious harmony. Recently a rumour was spread which had spoken of insulting the Quran and thereafter there were incidents of violence in many districts.
