New Delhi: The first batch of Indians stranded in Sudan, which is facing the brunt of the civil war, has left for the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah. There are a total of 278 citizens in this batch. They are being brought to Jeddah from Sudan Port through INS Sumedha. After reaching here, they will be brought to India by Indian Air Force aircraft. Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Arindam Bagchi has shared pictures of Indians stranded in Sudan on his official Twitter handle. In the pictures, Indian citizens can be seen boarding INS Sumedha. Union Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan is monitoring Operation Kaveri.

Let us inform that yesterday, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had given information about Operation Kaveri by tweeting. Two Indian Air Force aircraft are on standby in Jeddah. Indian citizens will be brought home through these planes. INS Sumedha is responsible for taking Indian citizens to Jeddah. Government of India has told that more than 3000 Indians are stranded all over Sudan and it is our top priority to bring them safely to India. Let us tell you that violence has been going on in Sudan for the last 10 days. An Indian has also lost his life during the violence in the past.
Let us tell you that in the ongoing bloody conflict between the army and paramilitary forces in Sudan, more than 400 people have been killed so far. The great thing is that there are more than 250 common citizens among those killed. According to a report, more than 3000 people have also been injured in the violence, who are not getting timely treatment, because there has been a huge devastation in the hospitals here. Millions of people of Sudan are forced to remain imprisoned in their homes for 10 days, who are facing many problems like food and drink, electricity and internet.
