All covid-19 testing measures are needed for fully vaccinated visitors travelling in the UK will be taken off starting next month, as the UK government takes a step closer to reopening the Covid-ravaged tourism industry.

According to a statement made by the British government on Monday, all testing requirements for eligible fully vaccinated immigrants will be removed starting at 4 a.m. on February 11, and just a Passenger Locator Form will be required. Those who are not completely vaccinated will be required to do a pre-departure test and a PCR test on or before the second day after arriving in the country, according to media sources.

In a statement, Transport Secretary Grant Shapps said, "This final stage in our stable and safe full return to international travel is a big boost for UK tourism, setting Britain free ahead of the important half-term and spring holiday season."

According to the release, the country would also recognise vaccination certificates from 16 new countries, including China and Mexico, increasing the total number of countries and territories recognised to over 180. According to official figures, the UK added 88,447 Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, increasing the overall caseload to 16,063,010, and 56 more fatalities, bringing the national death toll to 154,430.

In the United Kingdom, more than 90% of persons aged 12 and over have received their first dose of vaccine, over 83 percent are completely vaccinated, and 64% have had booster shots.
