The United Nations, the international regulating body is facing a financial crunch, reported the Secretary General Antonio Guterres. He alarmed the member countries of the crisis while requesting to pay the dues.

Reports claimed that the chief administrative officer wrote to member countries to alert them about the threats that are prevailing towards the international body. He claimed the unpaid amounts by the countries as the reason for the crisis and asked them to pay the dues on time.

Guterres claimed that such “troubling financial situation” is never faced by UN and expressed his concern over the same while saying “Our cash flow has never been this low so early in the calendar year, and the broader trend is also concerning; we are running out of cash sooner and staying in the red longer,” Fox News reports claimed.

Meanwhile, the head also found other ways to lessen the crisis and stated that some measures for the decrement of cost incurring will be welcomed in order to maintain the financial stability of the body.

Notably, the USA cut off the financial aid to the UN agency for Palestinian refugees but the same can’t be blamed as the country have already paid all dues.

Worthy to mention here that US is the biggest contributor to the UN and pays 22% of the budget.
