At the Dibrugarh University in Assam, at least 14 fresh COVID-19 cases have been detected. These 14 new cases were reported on Sunday at Dibrugarh University in Assam. Whole genome sequencing is apparently being done on all 14 COVID positive students' samples.

At least seven girls' hostels have reportedly been declared containment zones after the latest cases were reported. A containment zone has also been established on the university campus. At least three African students at the university had tested positive for COVID-19 before.

COVID-19 cases, in particularly, have been on the rise in Assam. Assam reported 1254 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, with a positive rate of 3.73 percent.  Of the 1254 cases, as many as 472 cases have been detected from in and around Guwahati city.
