This year we are celebrating 75 th Independence Day. PM Modi has started Har Ghar Tiranga Abhiyan. The celebration of 75 the Independence struggle is going on a grand level but lets not forget those freedom fighters because of which we are taking a breath in an Independent India. There are several people who had sacrificed their love, family, and life for India.  Various women freedom fighters have also played a significant role for their mother Land. Here is a list of freedom fighters who had played a significant role in the Indian Freedom struggle.

Moolmati: You might not hear of her name but you have studied about Ram Prasad Bismil. She was the Mother of the great Indian revolutionary Ram Prasad Bismil, Moolmati was a little-known patriot who supported her son's revolutionary ideas. When the British rulers hung her son, she addressed public meetings, arranged processions, and offered her other son's support to the freedom struggle.

Savitribai Phule: Savitri Bai had sparked the freedom struggle with education. She was the first female teacher in India and was the founder of the first Indian girl’s school. She once said that “If you educate a boy, you educate an individual but if you educate a girl, you educate the whole family.” These are very popular even in today era. Savitri encouraged the participation of women in the Indian Freedom Struggles.

Annie Besant:  One of the most renowned name of Indian Freedom Struggle. Annie Besant a British socialist and activist, contributed to the Indian freedom movement with the foundation of the All India Home Rule League. Annie Besant worked for women's rights and was a philanthropist. Being British, she propagated self-government for India and ultimately got the title of Indian women freedom fighter. She also encourage Indian women to take part in the free struggle.

 Rani Chennamma- You may not heard of her name but she played a very important role in Indian Freedom Struggle. She is also called as the bravest woman of Karnataka. She has to take responsibility for her Kingdom after the death of her son and husband. Chennnamma fought against the British and tried to save her kingdom.She led an army and fought courageously on the battlefield. Unfortunately, Kittur Rani Chennamma died on the battlefield but her contribution is still remembered.

Rani Laxmi Bai: Khum Ladi Mardani wo to Jhansi wali Rani thi, Jhansi ki Rani a female warrior. You have heard various stories, songs and poems on her. One of the first Women Freedom Fighters to fight in the Indian Independence Movement of 1857, Rani Lakshmibai is considered a symbol of resistance to the British Raj. Lakshmibai is considered the strongest and most brave women freedom fighter.

Begum Hazrat Mahal: You might have studied about her.  In 1857, when the revolt started, she was one of the first freedom fighters who persuaded the rural people to fight and raise their voices against British rule. Hazrat announced her son as the king of Oudh and took over the control of Lucknow. After which the British government took over the control of Lucknow from the king and she was forced to retreat to Nepal.

Sarojini Naidu: The first woman president of the Indian National Congress. Sarojini Naidu has been conferred the title of The Nightingale of India. Sarojini Naidu was the first lady to become the governor of a province and a state in independent India. She played a huge role in the Civil Disobedience Movement and Quit India Movement, Satyagraha Pledge, and Khilafat issue.

Madam Bikaji  Cama: She was one of the fiery ladies of the Indian freedom struggle. She is known as the mother of the Indian Revolution, she raised her voice for equality between men and women. Bhikaiji Cama was the first person to hoist the Indian flag on foreign soil in Germany.

There are thousands of names that are not in this list but they had sacrificed their life and love for the independence of India that remained unnoticed. This Independence let us thank this freedom fighter for their contribution.
