The US department on Tuesday informed about its approval on the deal to sell six AH-64E Apache attack helicopters for the worth of $930 million.

Recently, the pact has been forwarded to the US Congress for its approval. If it is agreed upon without any objection, the deal would be considered to be finalised.

Tata and Boeing have already started to produce Apache fuselages in India, and the US governments approval would surely encourage the sale of finished products by its manufacturers from the United States.

The agreement also includes night vision sensors, GPS guidance and hundreds of Hellfire anti-armor and Stinger air-to-air missiles.

In a statement issued by the US Defense Security Cooperation Agency, it stated, that the support for the AH-64E will provide an increase in India's defensive capability to counter ground-armoured threats and modernize its armed forces. It also added that India will have no difficulty absorbing the helicopters and support equipment into its armed forces. The proposed sale of this equipment and support will not alter the basic military balance in the region.

AH-64 Apache is a twin turboshaft attack helicopter provided with a tailwheel landing gear and also a cockpit for a crew of 2 men.
