NEW DELHI: Despite the fact that abrupt climate changes and other challenges are becoming more common, the government has not proposed the development of a National Agriculture Disaster Management Scheme, the Parliament was informed on Friday.

"However, under Sections 36/37 of the Disaster Management Act of 2005, every Ministry/Department is required to prepare a Disaster Management Plan. The Indian Council of Agricultural Research has launched the 'National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture' flagship network project, which aims to conduct strategic research on adaptation and mitigation, demonstrate technologies on farmers' fields, and raise awareness among farmers and other stakeholders.
