New Delhi: The second wave of corona epidemic is creating havoc in the country. According to the data for the last 24 hours, new cases have come down, but the death toll has reached a new record. As per the data released by the Union Health Ministry, 4,01,078 new corona cases have been registered in the country in the last 24 hours. This is just a little less than the figures of the previous day.

The death toll has reached 4,187. This is the highest ever death toll due to corona in the country in a day. Thus, the total number of corona patients in the country has reached 2,18,92,676. Out of this, 1,79,30,960 patients have recovered. So far, 2,38,270 patients have lost the corona battle in the country. The number of active cases is 37,23,446. Meanwhile, Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan has said that there are 180 districts in the country where not a single corona patient has been found in the last 7 days.

He further said that there are 18 districts where not a single corona patient has been found in the last 14 days. According to him, there were 54 districts where not a single corona case has come up in 21 days. Earlier, the Central Government had reported that the rate of infection in 24 States and Union Territories is more than 15 per cent. The highest infection rate in Goa is 48.5 percent, almost every other person being tested there is found to be infected.
