Chandigarh: The political turmoil in the Punjab Congress has increased considerably. Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as the president of the first state Congress. Party treasurer Gulzar Inder Chahal has also resigned in the state. Recently, Gulzar Inder Chahal was formally appointed as the Treasurer of the Punjab Congress Committee 7 days ago on September 21, when Charanjeet Singh Channi was sworn in as the new CM of the state.

Pargat Singh and Yoginder Pal Dhingra along with Gulzar Inder Chahal were appointed general secretaries of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) on the same day. Earlier in the day, Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as Punjab Congress chief saying that he could never compromise on the future of Punjab. Navjot Singh Sidhu announced his resignation on Twitter. He wrote in his resignation, " I cannot compromise on the future of Punjab and the welfare agenda of Punjab, so I resign as the Chairman of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. I will continue to serve the Congress.'

After Navjot Singh Sidhu resigned as the president of the Punjab Congress unit, former CM Captain Amarinder Singh said, "I had already said about Sidhu that he was not stable. The captain took a dig at Sidhu and said, 'I told you... He is not a stable person and is not suitable for a border State like Punjab.'
