New Delhi: All screenings of a controversial new film claiming to showcase the story of the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad have been put on hold in UK cinemas. Britain's largest cinema chain has taken this step after protests from Muslims on a large scale. The Lady of Heaven has been pulled from all UK cinemas to ensure the safety of theatres, staff and customers.

Cine World, which operates a chain of cinemas, said in an email to protesting groups that, "Due to recent developments regarding the screening of The Lady of Heaven, we have lost our employees and customers." To ensure security, it has been decided to cancel the upcoming screening of the film across the country. Protesters and online petitioners have criticized the film for its misrepresentation of early Islamic history, claiming that the film was made to "spread false information on Islam while hurting all Muslims". According to the protestors, the film grossly insults Prophet Muhammad in many ways.

Protesters have alleged that it also misrepresents conservative historical facts. Through this, the most respected figures of Islamic history have been disrespected. An online petition demanding the removal of the film has garnered over 123,000 signatures. At the same time, many British Muslim groups have issued statements against this film. There have been demonstrations by Muslim mobs in cinema complexes across the UK demanding the removal of the film. Meanwhile, the producer of the film has said that stopping the screening under pressure from the crowd puts a question mark on "British values".

Producers have stated that the crowd has been given the right to 'direct' what can and cannot be shown on screen in the UK. A video outside Cine World in Sheffield shows the manager of the complex trying to pacify an angry crowd via mega phone. While the scared employees were hiding inside. Video footage showed members of a large crowd of men shouting slogans. Let us tell you that the film was released in about 30 cities of the UK at Cineworld and Vue Complex.

The film begins with the invasion of Iraq by ISIS and depicts the life of Fatima, the daughter of the Prophet Muhammad, during the seventh century. Islamic tradition forbids direct depictions of religious figures. Film director Eli King portrays Fatima as a faceless character covered with a black mask. At the same time, London-based 'The Lady of Heaven' executive producer Malik Schlibak has called the decision of the theater owners to stop the film as unacceptable.
