Patna: Nitish Kumar's cabinet expansion in Bihar took place on August 16, in which 31 MLAs were sworn in as ministers. Among the MLAs who took the oath, the highest number of 16 MLAs were from the Rashtriya Janata Dal, including Kartikeya Singh, who has become the Law Minister.

A surrender warrant was issued against Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA and now Law Minister Kartikeya Singh in the court on August 16. In fact, a case of kidnapping has been registered against Kartikeya Singh, for this, a warrant was issued against him, but he did not surrender in court, he did take oath as a cabinet minister on August 16.  

In the Nitish Cabinet, 16 MLAs of Rashtriya Janata Dal, 11 of Janata Dal-United, 2 of Congress, one of HAM and one Independent have joined. These include Tej Pratap Yadav, Alok Mehta, Surendra Prasad Yadav, Ramanand Yadav, Kumar Sarvjeet, Lalit Yadav, Sameer Kumar, Chandrashekhar, Jitendra Kumar Rai, Anita Devi, Sudhakar Singh, Israel Mansoori, Surendra Ram, Kartikey Singh, Shahnawaz Alam, Shamim Ahmed from Rashtriya Janata Dal. Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Bijendra Yadav, Shravan Kumar, Ashok Chaudhary, Lacey Singh, Sanjay Jha, Madan Sahni, Sheela Kumari,  Sunil Kumar, Mohammad Jama Khan, Jayant Raj from JD(U) have joined. Afaq Alam, Murari Gautam from Congress, Santosh Kumar and Sumit Kumar Singh from HAM have joined the cabinet as independents.
