New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor (LG) of Delhi, the country's capital, VK Saxena has issued an inquiry order on the complaint of irregularities in the recruitment of Delhi Pharmaceutical Science and Research University (DPSRU). In fact, complaints were received of rigging in appointments to the posts of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in the Institute. Raj Nivas sources had informed on Tuesday (May 2) that the LG has ordered an inquiry into the complaints of large-scale irregularities in the appointment of faculty members in DPSRU. It has been claimed in the complaints that there has been a large scale scam, favoritism and corruption in the appointments of faculty staff in the year 2019.

According to the report, applications for the appointment of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor in this institute were issued in February and July 2019. A few months after this, in 2020, complaints of large-scale irregularities in these appointments started appearing in the media. After receiving the complaints, the department called for the records from DPSRU and on the basis of that the vigilance wing of the department examined the documents related to the appointment of those six candidates. Several irregularities were found in this investigation. Only after this, orders have been issued by the LG to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.

According to sources, irregularities have come to the fore in the appointments of the candidates whose appointments were probed by the Vigilance Department. The Vigilance Department in its report has stated that the concerned candidates either lacked experience for the above posts or had submitted forged documents to fulfill the eligibility criteria. The report also stated that such a large-scale malpractice in the appointment of faculty members would not have been possible without the active intervention of the Vice Chancellor of DPSRU  . Accepting the proposal of the Chief Secretary, LG  has ordered to issue notice of 7 days for inspection and inquiry under DPSRU Act. The Lieutenant Governor is also the Chancellor of DPSRU.
