Nasirr Khan, son of comedian and veteran actor late Johnny Walker, has essayed some remembered roles so far. The actor, currently seen in the TV show Shubh Laabh-Aapkey Ghar Mein, chatted to us recently about his journey in Television and Bollywood as an anchor, dubbing artist and actor, his long absence from the show business industry, making a comeback and more.

Talking about the ongoing phase of his professional life, he says, “Indian Television Industry is mostly dominated by women. So, if I am getting a good role at the age of 53, I think I am fortunate. By the grace of God, I am getting great shows with meaty characters and money now. I can say that whatever I have earned in life, I did it on my own. Whenever I faced defeat, it was because I didn’t make the most of chances that got my way, my mistakes, and some wrong choices that I took.”

Nasirr, who always wanted to be an actor just as his father, has been a part of movies like Baghban, Wazir and The Lunchbox. Later, he shifted to doing Television shows. He said, “Becoming an actor was my childhood imagination and I was born and brought up in a filmy environment. But I knew that my father wouldn’t call any director to recommend me. He was a very real and simple person, and had struggled, too. Out of sisters and brothers, I was the only one who entered the industry to become an actor. My father always supported me, guided me and encouraged me. But he told me that he wouldn’t call any of his friends in the Industry to recommend me. He would say, ‘Beta, na koi bolega nahi, aur kaam koi dega nahi.’ So, it’s better to choose your own track.”

Despite a great start to his professional life, somewhere things didn’t go well the way he had thought. He said, “Its right that I got good projects, but due to some issue or the other, I couldn’t make the most of it. I never forced myself hard enough as an actor and accepted whatever was easily given to me. I didn’t fight to get what I deserved or wanted. There was a time when I was replaced and sidelined at the eleventh hour by other actors, or my character got edited, and I kept quiet. But I have no regrets at all. I don’t sit and cry over spilled tea. If I could do it when I had nothing, I can do it now when I have something in hand. That’s what I trust in.”

The actor tried his luck in anchoring and worked as a dubbing artist, too. But due to lack of good offers, he left the show business and worked for an MNC. “From 2008 to 2015, I was out of the show business industry and worked with a US-based technology corporate. I was totally disconnected from the entertainment industry. Suddenly, the company fall out and there was side effect among the investors. I was left high and dry with nothing in hand. But I never cried or slipped into depression. I am very headstrong and positive. I was ready for a fresh start. So, returning to the industry was the only option I had. My second comback in the entertainment industry began in 2016,” he adds.
