New Delhi: North India, including Delhi-NCR, is unlikely to get relief from the cold at present. IMD on Sunday predicted severe cold wave conditions in seven states. According to a statement issued by the IMD, cold wave conditions will prevail over western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for the next two days. However, in some states, the situation will be seen only in isolated places.

At the same time, IMD said that from January 18, western disturbances may again affect the Western Himalayan region. Rain is expected in north west and central India from 20th to 22nd January. Another western disturbance is expected to affect northwest India from January 21. Cyclonic wind may affect western UP and adjoining areas, IMD said.

Dense fog accompanied by cold wave conditions in different parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan will continue for the next two days. Similar situation is expected in eastern UP for the next three days. Light or moderate rainfall is expected in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 19th and 20th January. In addition, dense fog will also prevail over Jammu division and Himachal Pradesh on 16.17.2017. It may be recalled that fog conditions have been observed in many parts of north India on Sunday as well. Dense fog continued to prevail in the morning from Lucknow to Bhopal.
