Our body is composed of approximately 60 per cent of water and a deficiency of fluid can lead to dehydration. Water has many different important functions in the body, including regulating body temperature, removing toxins, transporting nutrients and compounds in blood, etc. So, if we don’t take enough water our body will become dehydrated over time. According to study, even at about 1% dehydration, which is equivalent to 1% of body weight water loss - can have negative effects on mental and physical function.

There are different signs which indicate the dehydration. So, let’s know these signs.

Dry skin

You need to drink enough water to keep your skin healthy and glowing. Due to lack of water our skin becomes very dry and may appear flushed as well.

Bad breath

Dehydration can prevent your body from producing enough saliva. Not having enough saliva can lead to bacterial growth, resulting in bad breath.

Sugar craving

It is one of the most common problems caused by dehydration. A lack of water can make it difficult for organs like liver to release glycogen (stored glucose) and other components of your energy stores, hence, it can actually trigger food cravings.

Mood swings

As per the study, dehydration can change brain function which can lead to headaches, loss of focus, and irritability.

Fever and Chills

Severe dehydration can lead to fever and chills. It can be difficult for the body to maintain a regular temperature due to lack of water.
