The government is going to take a big step once again to put an end to the onion prices. According to the exclusive information, the minimum export price of onion can be increased from $ 850 per tonne to $ 1050 per tonne to overcome onion prices.

Let us tell you that the MEP of onion was made $ 850 a tonne a few days ago, which can now be extended again. Now it will be expensive to export onion. This is expected to increase the supply of onion in the domestic market. It will be easier to control onion inflation.   

Exports up threefold to record level If the comparison of export data is done with export in 2015-16, export has increased more than 3 times in 2016-17, during the year 2015-16 only 11,14,418 tonnes of onion was exported from the country with record export, the supply of onion was reduced in the domestic market.

So the prices of onions started skyrocketing.  In the beginning of November, the government agency MMTC gave tender to import 2,000 tonnes of onion. This step was to control the prices of onion. But Pakistan banned the export of onion. At the same time, there is a high price in the international market. 

Onion yields have increased more onion this year. During the month of November, there has also been increased in arrivals, which could reduce the prices in the wholesale market in the coming days. In the long term, its prices may also fall in the retail market.

Talking about the arrival of onion in Lasalgaon, in November, the monthly arrival was 2.27 lakh quintals until November 28, whereas in November last year, 1.57 lakh quintals of total arrivals were recorded. This means that if there is an excess inward then the prices will decrease in the next one month.
