The Northern Railways reported significant delays affecting 14 trains in the northern zone owing to dense fog engulfing the national capital on Tuesday.

A statement from the Chief Public Relations Officer confirmed the disruption, stating, "As of today, 14 trains in the Northern Zone of Indian Railways have been impacted due to fog or reduced visibility."

Among the trains experiencing delays in their arrival at Delhi are the Puri-New Delhi Purushottam Express, Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express, Kanpur-New Delhi Shramshakti, Allahabad-New Delhi Prayagraj, Azamgarh-Delhi Kaifiyat Express, Bhagalpur-Anand Vihar Vikramshilla, Gaya-New Delhi Magadh Express, Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani, Durg-Nizamuddin Samparkkranti, Chennai-New Delhi GT Express, Hyderabad-New Delhi Telangana, Habibgang-New Delhi Bhopal Express, Khajuraho-Kurukshetra Express, and Vasco-Nizamuddin Goa Express.

According to the Delhi Airport Flight Information Display System, nearly 30 flights, including international ones, experienced delays in both arrivals and departures due to dense fog earlier in the day.

Airport officials also mentioned the likelihood of some flights being diverted due to low visibility.

Sources at the airport revealed that five flights had already been diverted to Jaipur between 8:30 am and 10:00 am due to adverse weather conditions at Delhi airport.

This marked the second consecutive day the airport issued a passenger advisory, cautioning, "While landings and take-offs are ongoing at Delhi Airport, flights not compliant with CAT III standards might face disruptions. Passengers are urged to contact their respective airlines for the most up-to-date flight information. We apologize for any inconvenience caused."

CAT-III Instrument Landing System (ILS) is a specialized anti-fog landing system implemented by Delhi airport authorities to aid landings during low runway visibility.
