Meanwhile, presidential elections are going to be held in America in November 2024. The special thing is that Sunita Williams will cast her vote from space, 250 miles away from Earth. Now the question arises that what is the voting process in America and how will she cast her vote from space? Let's know.

How will Sunita and Butch vote from space?: Sunita and Butch Wilmore will vote in the US elections from 400 kilometers away from the International Space Center. They have requested NASA to arrange for postal ballots so that they can cast their vote from space.

How do elections start in America?: Presidential elections in America are held every four years on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November. The next presidential election is scheduled to be held on November 5, 2024. The process of presidential elections in America starts a year in advance. There are mainly two major political parties in America: Democrats and Republicans. Candidates of these parties start the election campaign. These candidates meet people through election rallies, raise money, and tell about their policies. After this, the Democrat and Republican candidates debate on TV, in which they defend their policies and plans.

There are two phases of elections in America

US elections take place in two stages: caucuses and primaries.

Caucus: In a caucus, party members discuss together and then vote to select the best candidate. In this, different candidates of the Democratic and Republican parties are selected. Caucus is a meeting in which local members of the party elect representatives.

Primary: In primary elections, the public selects their favorite candidate. People participate in the primary to choose their candidate 6 to 9 months before the presidential election. In this, votes are cast for the best candidate from among the representatives of different parties. Most US states conduct primary elections, in which voters cast their votes in a secret manner. In this process, people support their favorite presidential candidate.

Second stage: After the primaries and caucuses, the party holds a national convention. At this convention all elected delegates support their preferred candidate. By the end of the convention, each party has a final presidential candidate.
