Hyderabad: On the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Sunday, an NGO named Jan Urja Manch organized an award programme called 'Udghosh' at Birla Planetarium in Hyderabad. Badminton player PV Sindhu, archer Dolly Shivani and Nims neurosurgeon Dr Anirudh Purohit were among the dignitaries who received the Netaji Award.

Professor Rajam, a grandson of mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan and founder of the Institute of Ancient Indian Philosophy, was jointly awarded the Netaji Award at the hands of Haryana Governor Bandaru Dattatreya and Shri Tridandi Chinna Jeeyar Swamy. The young gemstone title given to PV Sindhu was received by her father. While the Ayush Ratna Award was given to Ayurveda expert Dr Suresh Jakotia. The late Hariprasad Bhadruk's award was received by his son Srikrishna Bhadruk.

Dolly Shivani, the 9-year-old archer, was awarded the Bal Ratna Award. He started learning archery from his father at the age of 3. Shyam Gopal Das was awarded for distributing Giloi and tulsi medicinal plants to individuals for free. Archercouple Satyanarayan Cherukuri and Krishna Kumari received the Sanskriti Gaurav Award. Dr Anirudh Purohit, the neurosurgeon at NIMs Hospital, was awarded the award for working on cerebral palsy. At the same time, Vadde Hanumathu was awarded the Social Service Award for preventing 116 people from rejoicing. On the other hand, GVK Rao of Telangana was awarded for planting medicinal plants on his 250 acres of land. Addressing the function, Bandaru Dattatreya said, "The Amrit Mahotsav of Freedom is a major initiative of the government to remember the great deeds of our freedom fighters. This instils a sense of national pride in every Indian, which is the need of the hour.''
