Dehradun: Retired wing commander Anupama Joshi, a resident of Dehradun, first raised his voice for the permanent commission of women in the army. On Thursday, after a 17-year-long legal battle, orders have been issued for permanent commission of women in ten military departments. On 17 February 2020, the Supreme Court gave a decision to give permanent commission to women. On Thursday, the Central Government has finally issued an order to implement it.

Also, retired Wing Commander Anupama Joshi, a resident of Dehradun, may not have benefited from it upon retirement, but her initiative proved to be effective for other women. She described this decision as historic. Anupama Joshi was selected in the Air Force in 1992. After that, she kept moving forward on the strength of her labor. After the first five years of service, she raised the voice of permanent commission and got an extension of three years. A three-year extension was made available thereafter.

She was upset with the extensions getting in pieces every time. She sought a written reply from his senior officers in 2002 against this. But the answer could not be found. She then filed a petition in the court in 2006 with other women officers. The court gave a decision to give permanent commission to the new recruits at the hearing of the case. But the decision of the serving women officers could not be decided. Anupama retired in 2008. Even after that, their struggle continued. In 2010, on the order of the court, the decision to give permanent commission to women in the Air Force came. The case continued in the Supreme Court. And finally he got victory in his struggle.
