New Delhi: The air was similarly bad in Delhi and worsened after people celebrated Diwali on November 4 last night. In fact, the government's ban on fireworks on Diwali was flouted amid a sharp increase in smoke due to stubble burning here and the sky in and around Delhi was covered with smoke last Thursday night. As a result, the city's air quality index reached the 'critical category.' Let me tell all of you that the Air Quality Index (AQI), which was 3.82 p.m. amid rising pollution in Delhi, rose to a 'serious category' by 8 p.m. as pollutants could not be scattered due to low temperature and poor wind speed.

Now, this morning, when Delhiites woke up, the night firecrackers had a terrible effect in the morning. Today, Friday morning, Delhi witnessed smoke and smog all around. It was seen wrapped in a blanket of fog in the morning after Diwali. Vehicles on the roads are facing a lot of trouble due to fog and this morning the air in Delhi has reached a very bad category. The morning view near the Akshardham temple here was something like this. AQI has reportedly recorded in Delhi's neighbouring cities Faridabad after 9 pm due to the burning of firecrackers, 442 in Ghaziabad, 423 in Gurugram and 431 in Noida, which falls under the serious category. People from Delhi and many adjoining areas complained of sore throat and eye-watering.

There has been a complete ban on firecrackers till 1st January 2022, but despite this, there were cases of burning of firecrackers from 7 pm at Lajpat Nagar in South Delhi, Burari in North Delhi, Paschim Vihar in West Delhi and Shahdara in East Delhi. On the other hand, high-intensity firecrackers were lit in Gurugram and Faridabad. PM2.5 pollution levels are expected to rise sharply by today i.e. Friday morning and AQI may cross the 500 level.
