Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh will be seen as an important member of the support staff of a major IPL franchise next year. In the first leg of the last IPL, 41-year-old Harbhajan played a few matches for Kolkata Knight Riders but did not play a single match in the UAE round of the league. Harbhajan is expected to officially announce his retirement from cricket next week and then accept one of his offers to join the paramedics of some franchises.

A source in IPL, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, 'The character may be part of an advisory, mentor or advisory group, but the franchise she is discussing with wants to use her experience. He will also play an active role in helping the franchise choose cricketers in the auction. Harbhajan Singh has played for Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. He played 163 matches in IPL and took 150 wickets. He was brilliant for five for 18. He also scored 833 runs.

Harbhajan has always shown interest in grooming cricketers and was the role he played with the team in later years as he was associated with Mumbai Indians for a decade. Harbhajan spent a lot of time guiding Varun Chakraborty as he was associated with KKR last year. Venkatesh Iyer, who was looking for IPL's last season, had earlier revealed that Harbhajan had said after some net session before he did not play a single match for KKR that he would be successful in the league.
