The film 'Missing Ladies' directed by Kiran Rao has been officially selected from India for Oscars 2025. This was announced by the Film Federation of India during an event held in Chennai. The film has been selected for the Best Foreign Film category at the 97th Academy Awards.

'Laapata Ladies' is directed by Kiran Rao and produced by Bollywood actor Aamir Khan. Pratibha Ranta, Sparsh Srivastava, and Nitanshi Goyal have played important roles in this film. Apart from this, Ravi Kishan and Chhaya Kadam have also appeared in important roles. This film has made a special place among the audience due to its brilliant story and acting.
It got a place after beating 29 films
Before 'Missing Ladies' was selected for the Oscars, many Indian films had applied. These included 29 films like Animal, Hanuman, Kalki 2898 AD, Maharaja, Zoram, Sam Bahadur, and Article 370. Beating all these films, 'Missing Ladies' was selected for the Oscars on behalf of India.
Kiran Rao's dream came true
Last week, while talking to PTI, Kiran Rao had said that if her film reaches the Oscars, it will be her dream come true. She had said, "It is a process, and I hope 'Missing Ladies' will be considered. I am sure the best film will be selected."
Story of the film
The story of 'Missing Ladies' takes the audience to rural India in the year 2001. The film is the story of two brides who get swapped during a train journey. This is followed by a hilarious and upheaval-filled journey by their husbands to find the real bride.
