Recently a photo is going viral on social media. Sikhs are coming forward to help the people in the  Corona crisis. While people are not tired of thanking Corona Warriors, Sikhs have also won the hearts of all. At many places, langars were run to feed the people. Now let's talk about America. Here too, Sikhs are feeding people in langars.

According to this post, more than 1 lakh 45 thousand people were fed food during the last two months during the epidemic in the Sikh Center in Queens Village, New York. It has been written in this post, "The centuries-old Sikh tradition of nourishing anyone in need has found new energy and purpose in the face of America’s turmoil. Since the coronavirus pandemic has halted religious gatherings in most of the country, gurdwaras — the places of worship for Sikhs — are mobilizing their large-scale cooking resources to meet the skyrocketing need for food aid.⁣ ⁣ An essential part of Sikhism is langar, the practice of preparing and serving a free meal to promote the Sikh tenet of Seva, or selfless service."

"The Sikh Center of New York, in Queens Village, has served more than 145,000 free meals in the past two months. Many gurdwaras have served meals even as soup kitchens have had difficulty keeping up with demand during the pandemic. And some are feeding the protesters marching in outrage over the killings of George Floyd and other black Americans by the police.⁣ ⁣ Last week, in Sunnyside, Queens, a dozen or so volunteers from the centre served demonstrators 500 portions of matar paneer, rice and rajma, a dish of red beans stewed with tomatoes. They also handed out 1,000 bottles of water and cans of soda."

“Where we see a peaceful protest, we are going,” said Himmat Singh, a coordinator at the World Sikh Parliament, an advocacy group providing volunteers for the Queens Village efforts. “We are looking for justice. We support this.” @ryanchristopherjones took this photo of the Queens Village group feeding people at a Sunnyside protest last week.⁣"
