In this study, some similar symptoms like runny nose and headache were seen in both the variants. However, some different symptoms were also found in both the variants. In fact, 52.7 percent of the people infected with Delta in the study had lost the ability to smell, while in Omicron patients, this symptom was found in only 16.7 percent of the people.
Omicron's most common symptom - The most common symptom of Omicron in the study was sore throat, which was higher in the data compared to the delta variant. Yes and this is because in most of the cases Omicron is confined to the upper respiratory tract and rarely affects the rest of the organs. At the same time, the number of hospitalizations from Omicron was also very low compared to Delta. In fact, the figure for Omicron patients hospitalized was 1.9 percent compared to Delta's 2.6 percent patients. In addition, the average duration of symptoms for Omicron was found to be 2 days shorter than for Delta. However, its sub-variant BA.2 is believed to be more infectious than Omicron. But despite being more contagious, BA.2 is not considered more serious than the original Omicron, although some experts say that it can remain in the body for a long time.
