This movie receives the title of Best Film in 26th KIFF

The 26th Kolkata International Film Festival was started from 8th January and yesterday it ended. This function got postponed due to Covid-19 crisis and was inaugurated by Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee. From the nine films which competed in the KIFF's international competition, the film ‘Bander Band’ by Manijeh Hekmat got the title of Best Film and received the Golden Royal Bengal Tiger award on Friday.

The award was announced on Friday at a star-studded ceremony which started with a sreekhol performance by Hare Krishna Halder and his team at the Ektara Mancha. Talking about the event, 26th KIFF chairperson, Raj Chakraborty, said that he hopes KIFF will pave the way for viewers to return to cinemas. Raj was also present at the ceremony at the time of its closing with the chairman of KMC’s Board of Administrators, Firhad Hakim, and other celebrities and organizers, including Goutam Ghose, Srijit Mukherji, Sudeshna Roy, Nusrat Jahan and Shaheb Chattopadhyay.

The film ‘Bander Band’ shows the journey of three musicians as they navigate their way through flooded terrains to attend a music competition in Tehran. Hekmat said that she had grown in the independent sector of Iranian cinema, making his films with minimum budgets.
