Well, 35 years ago, Richards played such a stormy innings and he scored 300 runs in a single day. In First Class cricket, only five players have been able to do so.
35 years before today, on 1 June 1985, Richards scored 322 runs against Warkwicher, in which he gave 300 runs in a single day. With this, he became the best Caribbean batsman to play the best innings in first class cricket. He scored 300 runs off 244 balls. Not only this, he had also given the last 200 runs in just 130 balls.
Had broken his own record: Richards scored 322 runs for Somerset with 42 fours and 8 sixes in 258 balls. Somerset declared their innings at 566 for five on the basis of the Caribbean veteran's innings. In addition to Richards, Vic Mark of his team scored 65, Nigel and Richards Allis scored 55 runs. Second innings declared for 226 runs for 5 wickets. In response, Warkwicher was all out at 442 in the first innings and drew the match by scoring 181 runs for two wickets in the second innings.
