Gwalior: After Rani Kamalapati railway station in Madhya Pradesh's capital Bhopal, preparations have now begun to make the station a modern station in another major city of the state. This station will be renovated at a cost of crores of rupees. The railway department has also taken permission from all the departments for the station.  

The route for making Gwalior station a modern station has now become clear, permission has already been obtained from all the departments by the Railway Department and tenders have now been issued for the construction work. It is being said that now the tender process will also be completed within 3 months. Thereafter, the redevelopment of the station will be taken up in the month of January.  

Ashutosh, DRM of the Jhansi division, says that this station will be a modern station in itself, it will have 3 exits and 3 entry gates. While 21 lifts and 19 escalators will be installed for the convenience of the people, the entire project is likely to cost around Rs 440 crore, in addition to this, if more money is required, the railway department will also provide it. He said that after the redevelopment of the railway station, the passengers will not only get better facilities but also increase the revenue of the railways. However, due to the redevelopment of the station, about 213 trees are to be cut down, which the DRM says, adding that the terms of the tender mention that 10 times the number of trees that will be cut down will be planted at the site mentioned by the local administration.
