Ujjain: Due to the heat of the shakha and the senior month at Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, a stream of water will flow from the earthen Kalash. As soon as the month of Vaisakha begins on Sunday, the earthen Galantika (Kalash) has been tied, which will last for two months. From these, a stream of cold water will flow on Mahakaleshwar jyotirlinga from 6 am to 4 pm every day.

In fact, according to the tradition of the temple, Galantika is tied for two months from Vaishakh Krishna Pratipada to the full moon of the first month. According to the priests, Vaishakh and Jyeshtha months are more hot. In the scorching heat, a stream of water is flown from the earthen Kalash to provide coolness to Baba Mahakal. For 2 months, Galantika will be tied daily from 6 am to 4 pm. According to priest Pradeep Guru, Mahadev had consumed Garal (poison) at the time of Samudra Manthan. According to religious belief, the Jal Abhishek of Shiva is done only for the sake of Garal fire fighting.

On the summer days, the heat (heat) of the poison increases even more. Therefore, in Vaishakh and Jyeshtha months, a stream of cold water is flown from the earthen Kalash to provide coolness to Mahadev. Tying earthen Kalash on top of Mahadev's shisha is called Galantika. According to the tradition of Mahakal Temple, Galantika is tied from Vaishakh Krishna Pratipada to Jyeshtha Purnima for two months from 6 am to 4 pm. It consists of 11 earthen urns. Similarly, in Mangalnath and Angareshwar Mahadev temples, Galantika will be tied with Vaishakh Krishna Pratipada.
