New Delhi: Air quality in the country's capital was recorded in the 'very poor' category on Friday morning. The government agency that released the pollution estimates said the air quality is likely to improve slightly due to the favorable wind speed. The Air Quality Index (AQI) remained at the "severe" level for some time on Thursday and after that it reached the "very poor" category.

According to 'travel', the air quality monitoring system of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, the contribution of burning stubble to the concentration of PM 2.5 in Delhi's air was the highest at 36 percent in this season on Thursday. AQI 380 was recorded at 9.30 am in Delhi. The 24-hour average on Thursday was AQI of 395. It was recorded 297 on Wednesday, 312 on Tuesday, 353 on Monday and 349 on Sunday. AQI was recorded in the 'severe' category at several monitoring stations including Shadipur (417), Patparganj (406), Bawana (447) and Mundaka (427).

Let us tell you that AQI between 0 and 50 is 'good', between 51 and 100 is 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 is 'medium', 201 and 300 is 'bad', 301 and 400 is 'very bad'. And between 401 and 500 are placed in the 'severe' category. According to CPCB data, the PM10 level in Delhi-NCR at 10 am on Thursday morning was recorded at 424 micrograms per cubic meter, the highest this season.
