This time the government is going to give an electronic-marketing system to farmers to bring Kashmiri saffron into the mandis. The entire process has been done for this. Complete records of farmers are being made online. From November, the farmers will be able to sell saffron by direct contact with the mandis, and can also take the rate online. Its profit will be to the farmers that they will be able to sell the crop in direct mandis instead of middlemen. They will not have to pay commission, and their income will increase.
According to the saffron mission from the government, GI tagging has been started for the upliftment of saffron. In this, besides increasing the saffron yield, all other facilities have also been made available to all the farmers. Along with this, middlemen have been removed. This time the packing of Kashmiri saffron will also be done with digital technology. There will be mention of Kashmiri saffron variety and GI tagging. This means that saffron is 100 percent good quality, not bad. A shape is being prepared for this. Design will be determined within a month.
More than 40 thousand farmers of the same 226 villages are associated with this business. Due to floods and other natural disasters in the year 2014, more than half of the farmers have left the saffron cultivation. According to the Saffron Mission, other facilities have been made available, including providing markets to the farmers. This time farmers will be able to earn a good amount. This time the price of saffron is not one lakh, but three lakh per kg is expected to be sold. With this, farmers will get good profits this time.
