Raipur: According to the different traditions in different cities and villages of the country, the festival of Holi is celebrated with joy and pomp. One such a unique tradition is found in Sadar Bazar, the heart site of Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh, where the tradition of 'Seth Nathuram' procession is carried out. Such a tradition is not practiced anywhere else in Chhattisgarh. Four days before Holi, the statue of Seth Nathuram is decorated on a vehicle and a procession is taken out with a horse.

In this procession, young, elderly Rajasthani people sing from the Phag songs and walk with joy and reach Nahta Market located in Sadar Bazar. Worshiping Seth Nathuram's statue is also done here. This tradition goes on to celebrate happiness for five consecutive days by duly worshiping, performing aarti and singing phag songs till late night. Dilip Sharma Chhaparwal, Omprakash Sharma, Jhummar Sharma, Raghunath Sharma, Jitendra Sharma, who have been attending the procession for the last 45 years, they have been participating in the unique tradition of Sadarbazar since childhood. He has heard from his elders that this tradition is being continued continuously for 190 years.

Omprakash Sevag, who has been serving for five generations in the worship of Seth Nathuram, says that the service has been going on since the days of his grandfather-great-grandfather. They themselves have been enjoying the procession for 45 years, from attending the procession to bidding farewell on the day of Holi. In childhood, Dada told that Seth Nathuram is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Mahadev. He is worshiped as 'Iloji' in the Bikaner area of Rajasthan. Raghunath Sharma, who has been serving for many years, has informed that the procession of Seth Nathuram is taken from Sattibazar on the Ekadashi date that precedes Holi. But the procession is welcomed with cold, ice cream, kulfi, breakfast.
