New Delhi: The world's leading travel company Thomas Cook has gone bankrupt. The crisis has arisen over around 21,000 jobs due to the bankruptcy of this world's oldest travel company. When the cash-strapped company collapsed, its chief executive Peter Fankhauser said it was regrettable that the company went out of business after failing to get a relief package from lenders. Britain's Civil Aviation Authority has reported that Thomas Cook has now closed the business and the regulator and government will work together to bring home more than 150,000 British customers over the next two weeks.

The chief executive of the company issued a statement saying, "I would like to apologize to our millions of customers, thousands of employees, suppliers and partners who have supported us for many years." He said that "it is a matter of deep regret for me and the rest of the board that we did not succeed". The CAA has stated that Thomas Cook has ceased trading, so all flights of Thomas Cook have now been cancelled. This is the oldest holiday company in the world, employing more than 21,000 people. Thomas Cook operated hotels, resorts and airlines for 19 million people a year in 16 countries. Currently, it has 600,000 people abroad, governments and insurance companies will be forced to undertake a massive rescue operation for them.
