If you drink alcohol daily, be careful! According to the 2024 Cancer Progress Report of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR), alcohol consumption, even if done in small quantities, can increase the risk of many types of cancer. The report also revealed that alcohol consumption is responsible for more than 5% of the total cancer cases worldwide. After obesity and cigarettes, alcohol has been counted among the major causes of cancer risk. Therefore, it is wise to stay away from alcohol.

Alcohol increases the risk of these cancers

According to the report, regular drinking of alcohol may increase the risk of the following types of cancer:

Brain Cancer
Neck Cancer
Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma
Breast Cancer
Colorectal Cancer
Liver and Stomach Cancer

Alcohol consumption affects various organs of the body, and it acts like a poison. By drinking alcohol continuously, the body gradually becomes home to dangerous diseases, which can lead to fatal cancer.

Can quitting alcohol reduce the risk of cancer?

According to the AACR report, if a person quits drinking alcohol, the risk of alcohol-related cancer can be reduced by 8%. Apart from this, the risk of all types of cancer can also be reduced by 4%. Research has also shown that about 75,000 Americans are affected by alcohol-related cancer every year. Experts say that frequent drinking has a bad effect on many vital organs, increasing the risk of serious and life-threatening diseases.

Lack of awareness among people

Despite such huge risks, the AACR report shows that about 51% of Americans are unaware that drinking alcohol poses a risk of cancer. This makes it clear that people need to be given more information about its side effects. People need to be warned about alcohol-related diseases so that they can protect their health. Alcohol consumption is not only dangerous for your health, but it can also cause many serious diseases. Given its dangers, staying away from alcohol is the best option.
