MEERUT:  Four persons have reportedly been arrested for allegedly beating a pregnant woman in the presence of her minor children. The police took action following a video of the incident went viral on social media.

The incident took place at Meerut's Brahmpuri police station's Bhagwatpura locality.

According to Praveen Kumar, the IG for Meerut, "It appears that lending money is the situation. All four accused have been placed under custody. The woman was sent to the hospital for treatment right away. Her condition has been described as steady." Police sources claim that the men viciously attacked a young man who was a daily wager and his 32-year-old expectant wife because they were unable to pay back the debt they had taken out in 2017.

The primary suspect, Ashok Kumar, and three of his accomplices are suspected of breaking into Rishi Singh's home, beating him and his wife Poonam, and even attacking their one-year-old and three-year-old children.
The locals shot the video and shared it on social media.

Ashok Kumar is allegedly implicated in house grabbing, per local reports. He borrows money, gets the house mortgaged in his name, and then makes threats to evict the residents.
