Dehradun: Kedarnath-like situation is once again seen to be prevailing in Uttarakhand. Here a 600-meter-long natural lake has been formed in the virgin village of Bageshwar district. Pushkar Singh Dhami's government has become alert about it. Due to landslides, this lake has become in the upper part of the Shambhu river. According to the report, if this lake breaks, then a huge amount of water and debris will burst with a strong flow, which will become even more powerful after meeting the Pindar river. The Pindari river comes from Alaknanda in Karnaprayag via Narayanbagad.

According to the news, the construction of this natural lake has added to the woes of the people of Bageshwar and Chamoli. According to reports, if the lake breaks, the Dewal, Tharali and Narayanbagad blocks of Chamoli will have the most devastation. According to reports, debris accumulated on the Shambhu river due to landslides between 2013 and 2019, leading to the formation of the lake. The administration is in trouble because the size of the lake is increasing day by day.

Locals say that if the administration does not take steps in time, then there could be a major accident like the Kedarnath flood before or after the rains. The district disaster centre had warned of landslides in 2012. The same year the district team had noticed cracks in the natural structure in the village. The Centre also issued an alert for the Kunwari village as there are frequent landslides in the area. In view of the crisis, Kapkot Tehsildar and his team have been sent to the spot for the survey. The tehsildar said that due to the landslide, a 60-70 metre long 15-20 metre wide lake has been formed in the Shambhu river. He further said that the lake is 600-700 meters long, and has about 6500 cusecs of water. ADM Bageshwar Chandra Singh Imphal said, "A team of geologists, forest officials and revenue department have inspected the lake for obstruction of the river and timely action.''
