New Delhi: Terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba has threatened to blow up 46 railway stations in Uttar Pradesh including Varanasi, Lucknow. After receiving an intelligence alert late last Saturday night, there was a commotion in the railway station. Security has been further beefed up at other stations including PDDU Junction, Varanasi Cantt station.

Security check at PDDU Junction: It is only after intelligence alerts that GRP, RPF and Dog Squad have tightened the security of the station at Anan Phanan at PDDU station. GRP Kotwal Suresh Singh, RPF Inspector Sanjeev Kumar along with the force started conducting searches on all platforms at PDDU junction late on Saturday night. Dozens of trains and passenger belongings passing through PDDU junction were also searched. The deployment of security personnel was also tightened from place to place. The control room staff was instructed to keep a serious watch on the station by giving directions. Cctv cameras are also being monitored.  GRP Kotwal Suresh Singh said security at the station has been beefed up following threats from terrorists.

Ayodhya and Haridwar on target: According to an alert received from the Intelligence Ministry, the terrorists targeted Bareilly, Moradabad Prayagraj, Kanpur, Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Aligarh, Lucknow, Ayodhya as well as Haridwar railway station in Uttarakhand. It is also being said that security at all stations has been tightened after the Threat of Lashkar-e-Taiba was received. Prayagraj SP GRP Siddharth Shankar Meena has said that GRP, RPF and civil police have jointly taken over the command of security. Scott has been increased in trains. The threatening letter was not sent to Prayagraj.
