Three arrested After Groups Clash Over Pigeon Flying In Delhi

New Delhi: Three people were apprehended by the Delhi Police after a fight broke out between two groups over pigeon flying in Seelampur, north east Delhi, on Wednesday, officials said. After BJP leader Kapil Mishra retweeted a purported video of the incident and demanded action, the issue came to light.

According to police, three suspects - Chand Mohammad (21), Sameer (20), and their father Rafik (45) - have been apprehended. A man is seen in the video with his head covered in blood and a cloth over his head to stop the bleeding.

"My 2-month-old son was on the terrace. These people were bursting firecrackers after Pakistan won the T20 match against India. When I objected to it, they started pelting stones. Later, they also fired," he alleged in the video.

The incident occurred on Wednesday morning, police said, and a PCR call was received at 11:15 a.m. about a quarrel in which two people namely Deepak and Naveen, were injured. Both parties were known to each other, according to a senior police officer, and fought over pigeon flying. At the Seelapmur Police Station, a case has been filed under sections IPC 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide) and 34 (common intension), and two people have been apprehended, according to police.
