Thousands of those who were sleeping in their homes remained asleep as poisonous gas started leaking from the Union Carbide factory in Bhopal. Due to which thousands of people came under its grip. In a few hours, 3000 living people became corpses. Warren Anderson, owner of Union Carbide reached Bhopal on December 7, four days after the Bhopal gas tragedy, where he was also arrested. But he was given bail for just 25 thousand rupees. He was kept under house arrest at Union Carbide's Bhopal guest house, But inside the whole system was helping him to escape. Anderson was brought from Bhopal to Delhi by a government plane overnight. In Delhi he reached the residence of the American Ambassador and then from there he left for Mumbai by a private airline and from Mumbai to America. Former Madhya Pradesh Aviation Director RS Sodhi had also given a statement regarding this, in which he had said that he had received a call asking him to keep a government plane ready from Bhopal to Delhi. Anderson reached Delhi by sitting in this plane. At that time, the Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate of Bhopal had personally gone to get Anderson on the plane. Shah Bano case: Rajiv government bowed down to fundamentalists

1986, Rajiv Gandhi was still learning politics. Meanwhile, the case of Shah Bano of Indore in Madhya Pradesh came into limelight. Shah Bano's husband and famous lawyer Mohammad Ahmed Khan gave her triple talaq after 43 years of marriage. Shah Bano was evicted from the house along with her five children. Aham Khan returned the dowry amount fixed at the time of marriage, but Shah Bano demanded alimony every month. He had no option but to go to court. The court decided the case in favor of Shah Bano and ordered Ahmed Khan to pay alimony of Rs.500 per month. This step of Shah Bano also gave courage to other Muslim women, due to which the men of the Muslim community became very angry. However, earlier in the Shah Bano case, Rajiv Gandhi had forwarded his Minister of State for Home, Arif Mohammad Khan. Mohammad Arif also supported Shah Bano in the Lok Sabha. He told the Lok Sabha that according to the Quran, In any case, proper arrangements must be made for the divorced woman. But coming under the pressure of the extremists, the Rajiv government took its steps back, and using its power in the Lok Sabha overturned the decision of the Supreme Court. At that time, by playing the politics of religion, Rajiv Gandhi made a few Muslims happy, but left Muslim women to a dark future, after that there were thousands of cases where triple talaq ruined the lives of Muslim women.
