Assam shaken by three bomb blasts on Republic Day, investigation underway

Guwahati: On the occasion of Republic Day, 3 major blasts have been carried out through grenades in two districts of Assam (Dibrugarh and Charaidev). These blasts took place on Sunday morning, when the Republic Day celebrations are being celebrated all over the country and strict security arrangements were made. In the state, 2 blasts took place in Dibrugarh district and one blast in Charaidev. However, there is no information about any casualties in these blasts so far.

The blast took place in a shop near National Highway 37 in Graham Bazar, Dibrugarh. While the second blast took place in Sonari area of Charaidev district of Assam. Apart from this, there is also a blast near a gurudwara in Dibrugarh. Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahant said that we have received information about the blast in Dibrugarh. The investigation of the case has been started, and it is being ascertained who were behind the blast.

Earlier on Monday, before the preparations for the Republic Day celebrations on Monday, a bomb blast took place in Charaidev district. The blast occurred at Dhudar Ali near Sonpari area of Sonari in Upper Assam district at around 11.50 pm on Monday. There was no report of any casualty even in this blast. However, many shops were damaged due to the blast. Earlier at the end of last year violence was witnessed in Assam regarding NRC.
