NEW DELHI: 3 vehicle thieves-cum-snatchers who were out on bail were once again detained by the Delhi Police for committing similar crime in the Dwarka area of New Delhi, an official said on Saturday.
The suspects, identified as Hardeep alias Musa (24), Rahul (23) and Ajay (23), had recently been released from various jails and had previously been discovered to be engaged in numerous crimes of robbery, snatching, and theft.
M. Harsh Vardhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Dwarka) said, a snatching incident was reported to Najafgarh police station. The complainant claimed that while he was riding his bicycle, three unidentified boys arrived on a black motorcycle and stole his mobile phone from Prem Nagar in Najafgarh.
Deputy Commissioner of Police M Harsh Vardhan said, the police filed an FIR under sections 356 of the Indian Penal Code (assault or use of criminal force in an attempt to steal property carried by a person), 379 of the Indian Penal Code (theft), and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (common intention) and started an investigation.
Another incidence involving the theft of a mobile phone was reported from Pandwala Village in Delhi, where three persons stole a man's phone and another FIR was filed in accordance with the relevant legal provisions.
During the investigation, a police team was constituted which visited the incident spots and checked the CCTV footage.
AIn response to a tip, the police detained three individuals on September 16 from Dichaun Enclave as they rode a scooter toward Dichaun Depot. The scooter was found to be a stolen one after verification.
The DCP stated that after thorough questioning, they admitted to being involved in snatching events.
Later, according to an interrogation and disclosure statement, two stolen motorcycles and two stolen E-rickshaws were found at their location in the Dichaun-Baprola Village region of Delhi, he continued.
