Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], Nov 21 (NT): The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday stated that three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were counteracted in Handwara in a common operation conducted by the CRPF and army.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Muneer Khan stated that a joint operation was conducted after getting information about the terrorist hiding in an abode.

"We kicked off operation at midnight on particular information of terrorists hiding in Magam. As per this information, a joint operation was organized by Army and CRPF police in that area. The terrorists, who were hiding in a house, were asked to lay down arms but they kept on firing on search parties. The fire was hit back and encounter continued for one and a half hour," Khan quoted.

The vast accumulation of arms and ammunition including grenades, three AK-47 has also been recovered from the terrorist.

Three Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were neutralized in Magam area of Handwara district in North Kashmir on Tuesday.

The day before Saturday, six LeT terrorists, together with Mumbai attack mastermind Zakiur Rehman Lakhvi's nephew Owaid, were gunned down by security forces throughout Bandipora encounter in Hajin sector.(NT)
