Muslim youths thrashed for not chanting Jai Shree Ram

Godhra: Violence has become a common occurrence in the country these days. The latest incident has come to light at Godhra in Gujarat. On Friday, three Muslim youths were beaten up by unidentified boys. His family members said that he was beaten up for not shouting slogans of Jai Sriram. The complainant Siddiqui Bhagat claims that six unidentified persons on two motorcycles attacked their 17-year-old son Sameer and his friends Salman Ghitali and Sohail Bhagat at night when they were all returning home.

The family alleges that the attackers asked them to shout slogans of Jai Sriram. "The attackers asked my son and his friends to speak the slogan 'Jay Shriram'. When the boys refused to do so, they started beating them. One of them hit Sameer's head with a bicycle chain while the other attacked him with a sharp object.

In an FIR lodged at Godhra Town Police Station, the victim's family said, "Before leaving, the attackers threatened that they would be killed if they reappear in the area." Police Inspector HC Rathwa said that the injured Sameer and his friends were taken to the local civil hospital. Police have registered a case against six unidentified persons.
