New Delhi: India today said that the development of its relations with China must be based on the "three mutuals"  viz.  Mutual respect, Mutual sensitivity, and Mutual interest, and that improving relations with Pakistan could not come at the expense of its own security.

”We have made it clear to China that tranquility  and peacein the border areas is paramount for the development of our relationship,” Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, 2 days before the fifteenth round of military-level discussions between the two countries on the stand-off at Eastern Ladakh . "While we want a good relationship with Pakistan, it must come at the expense of our security," he remarked at the launch of the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration's "Training Module on India's Neighbourhood."

"In response to the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, India has agreed to give the Afghan people 50,000 metric tonnes of wheat." Last month, the first wheat truck was flagged off from the Attari border," he stated.

"We remain involved with Myanmar, a country with which we share a nearly 1,700-kilometer border," Shringla said of India's ties with Myanmar. In our discussions, we have emphasised India's desire to see Myanmar return to democracy as soon as possible," he said.
